“The Iranians have more assets than the Americans.” What a former US negotiator for the Middle East says

The former negotiator of the State Department for the Middle East, Aaron David Miller, declared that the Iranians “have more assets than the Americans”, after 21 hours of talks between the US and Iran ended without reaching an agreement, according to CNN, taken over by News.ro.

“It's clear they're in no rush to make concessions,” Miller told US television, suggesting Iran appears to be moving at a slower pace than the US.

“It appears to me that they still have highly enriched uranium. They have demonstrated that they have turned geography into a weapon, they now control and manage the Strait of Hormuz. The regime survived,” Miller said.

“They have demonstrated a worrying capacity to undermine security and stability. All of these aspects are assets,” he added.

Miller said that, in his opinion, Iran would rather risk a new series of military attacks from the United States and Israel than be left empty-handed after negotiations.

US Vice President JD Vance said on Sunday that his team was leaving Pakistan after failing to reach an agreement with Iran following 21 hours of negotiations.

“The bad news is that we didn't come to an agreement, and I think that's bad news for Iran much more than it is for the United States of America,” Vance told reporters at the conclusion of the talks.

Tehran reacted on Sunday by saying that “nobody expected” the United States and Iran to reach an agreement from the first round of negotiations.
