Is the truce getting closer? Zelensky's adviser on the end of the war

Although negotiations to end Europe's deadliest conflict since World War II have yielded few results so far, Kyrylo Budanov expressed optimism that talks are moving toward an agreement – says the agency.
Kyrylo Budanov said in an interview with the agency that he “sees progress towards a potential peace agreement with the Kremlin”, adding that “It may not take long to reach a resolution to the conflict.”
“Everyone understands that the war must end,” he said, noting that the Russians themselves are also striving for this. “That's why they are negotiating,” added Kyrylo Budanov.

Since January 2026, Kyrylo Budanov has been the head of the Chancellery of the President of Ukraine. Previously, he headed the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. Bloomberg also emphasizes that Budanov is one of the main negotiators in the tripartite talks that are to lead to a truce. They are attended by representatives of Ukraine, Russia, and the United States.
