Ciprian Marica, overwhelmed on the day of Mircea Lucescu's funeral: “I promise you”

Mircea Lucescu took Marica to Shakhtior in 2004 and together they won 3 titles in Ukraine. The former striker was sold in 2007 to Stuttgart, for 7 million euros.

On April 10, the day “Il Luce” was buried, Marica posted a message in memory of her former coach, who died on April 7 at the age of 80.

Ciprian Marica: “We will miss you enormously, nea Mircea!”

“You would have liked, nea Mircea, the gratitude you finally received, now, on your departure! An entire world chanted your name. And you left the world a difficult name, but also an incredible family, which will honor you for generations!

You left thousands upon thousands of children of all ages whom you taught and guided with love and skill. We will miss you enormously, nea Mircea!

I, for one, promise you that I will always try to make you proud of me! Stay well!”, wrote Ciprian Marica on his personal Facebook page.

  • Mircea Lucescu took his first steps in football at Dinamo Bucharest, the team with which he has spent most of his career. He also performed at Știința Bucharest and Corvinul Hunedoara.

  • Throughout his coaching career, he trained Corvinul, the Romanian national team, Dinamo, Pisa, Brescia, Reggiana, Rapid, Inter, Galatasaray, Beşiktaş, Shakhtior, Zenit, the Turkish national team and Dinamo Kiev.

  • He won 36 trophies in his career as a technician: 9 times the championship of Ukraine, 8 times the Ukrainian Cup, 7 times the Ukrainian Supercup, 3 times the Romanian Cup, 2 times the Romanian championship, 2 times the Turkish championship, as well as the UEFA Cup, the European Super Cup, the Russian Super Cup and the Anglo-Italian Cup.
