A restless morning in Israel. The sirens sounded, among others: in Tel Aviv


On Friday morning, alarm sirens sounded in many areas of Israel. Their sound was heard, among others, in Tel Aviv and the coastal city of Ashdod. The Israeli Defense Forces reported the incident.

The reason for activating the warning system were rockets fired from the territory of Lebanon. The attack occurred despite a ceasefire agreement between Washington and Tehran, which is to be valid for two weeks.

Mutual attacks despite the truce

The day before, on Thursday, there were a series of mutual attacks between Israel and the pro-Iranian Hezbollah group. The actions of both sides undermined the truce agreed on Tuesday night. There was no information about victims.

Wednesday's Israeli airstrikes on Lebanese territory turned out to be the most intense since Hezbollah joined the US and Israel's war against Iran in early March. Unlike Thursday's clashes, Wednesday's attacks were much bloodier. The result of these actions was dramatic – over 300 people died – reports Reuters.

Netanyahu ordered peace talks

Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu announced on Thursday the decision to start peace talks with Lebanon. He ordered them to start “as soon as possible.” The main point of discussion is to be the disarmament of Hezbollah.

According to NBC News, it was US President Donald Trump who insisted on entering into dialogue.

The EU calls for respect for the ceasefire

Kaja Kallas, head of EU diplomacy called on Thursday evening for an immediate cessation of hostilities in Lebanon. She called on all parties to the conflict to respect the ceasefire agreement reached by the United States and Iran.
