Sad day in Romania. The great Mircea Lucescu lost his battle with the disease, and the coffin of the one who was “Il Luce” was deposited at the National Arena starting today. Victor Pițurcă, the former Romanian coach, sent a heartfelt thought for the former great Romanian coach.

Pițurcă is aware of what the coaching job means and how much it has consumed him Mircea Lucescu experience on the bench of the national team.

He believes that Lucescu needed rest and should not have accepted this position. He laments his disappearance also caused by the accumulated stress on the national bank.

Victor Pițurcă, after the death of Mircea Lucescu: “Stress is a killer. He had continuous stress and it had a big role on his health”

“I also received the news last night. I haven't had the necessary condition to comment until now. Much cannot be said. Condolences to the family! Mircea Lucescu left us as he wanted, from the football field. An extraordinary man and coach, football has lost an important, valuable person.

I know very well what it means (no – to be a coach). I know how much stress and how much the body suffers after such a match. From my point of view, Mircea Lucescu needed rest. We are not only talking about the match against Turkey, but from the beginning, since he accepted to take over the national team.

Stress is a killer. He didn't have any good moments except for the first part of the term. Then there was constant stress and it had a big impact on health.

After a period of suffering, he agreed to go ahead and sit on the bench against Turkey. It seems that this was fatal to him, for the most part.

Sin. Mircea Lucescu would have deserved to live many more years from now,” said Victor Pițurcă, for digisport.ro.
