Realita Plus is not the only one that has lost its license. Which televisions have recently closed through a similar decision

On Wednesday morning, CNA was preparing a notification that it will send to the Realitatea Plus television station, after the decision made the day before to withdraw its license citing that the station controlled by Marcel Păcurare did not prove the payment of some fines from 2024.

The post is not the only one that faced such a decision. Last year, the Council revoked the license of three television stations for the same reason, according to Pagina de Media.

According to the quoted source, it is about Global News, Linkpress TV and Melos TV. In the case of these, the CNA found that they had unpaid fines and did not prove that they would have paid them.

Initially, CNA members analyzed five television stations, but two of them, Inedit TV and Profi24, paid the debts they had on the last hundred meters.

Global News had six unpaid fines worth 80,000 lei, Linkpress TV had fines of 20,000 lei and Melos TV had two fines of 50,000 lei. The three television stations did not prove the payment of the fines, nor did they contest them in court, Pagina de Media wrote at the time.

According to the law, the analogue audiovisual license is withdrawn by the CNA in several situations, including if the TV station does not submit to the Council, within 6 months from the date of application of a fine, proof of its payment.

The first television to lose its license due to unpaid fines was OTV, owned by Dan Diaconescu. It happened in 2013 for penalties he had to pay since 2009.

The measure is excessive, claims the TV channel

CNA on Tuesday decided to revoke the Realitatea Plus license for 28 fines worth over 600,000 lei, dating from 2024. The TV station's lawyer, Ioan Georgescu, claimed that “we paid the fines”.

On Tuesday evening, after the CNA decision, Realitatea invited dozens of guests to its studios, in Anca Alexandrescu's show.

The station's representatives claimed that it was a coup d'état, a hypothesis on which George Simion, the leader of AUR, also focused his reaction.

The station officially claimed that it filed a request to reconsider the measure taken by the CNA, “which is excessive”.

When Reality Plus closes

After Tuesday's decision taken in a public meeting of the National Broadcasting Council (CNA), the institution must now send the Realitatea Plus television the official notification withdrawing its broadcast license.

“The notification will be sent in a very short time,” CNA Vice President Valentin Jucan told HotNews on Wednesday morning.

Once the notification arrives, the Realitatea Plus broadcast must be closed “immediately”, explained Jucan
