- As a player, he won 6 championship titles and a Romanian Cup, all with Dinamo.
- Throughout his coaching career, he trained Corvinul, the Romanian national team, Dinamo, Pisa, Brescia, Reggiana, Rapid, Inter, Galatasaray, Beşiktaş, Shakhtior, Zenit, the Turkish national team and Dinamo Kiev.
- He won 36 trophies in his career as a technician: 9 times the championship of Ukraine, 8 times the Ukrainian Cup, 7 times the Ukrainian Supercup, 3 times the Romanian Cup, 2 times the Romanian championship, 2 times the Turkish championship, as well as the UEFA Cup, the European Super Cup, the Russian Super Cup and the Anglo-Italian Cup.
Captain of the national team, Ianis began the letter with “Dear Mircea, with a heavy heart I am writing these lines…”.
“You were more than a coach: a mentor, a support and a man who shaped destinies. Not just mine, but of an entire generation. And the void left by your departure will never be filled,” says Ianis in his message.
“For me, you were not only a legend of Romanian football, but the man who believed in me when maybe I didn't fully do it either. You made me the captain of the national team, you gave me an honor that I will carry in my heart for the rest of my life”, wrote Hagi jr.

In his final message, Ianis noted: “My family and I loved and respected you deeply, for all that you were and for all that you gave us. I am convinced that where you are now, you continue to live the same passion, to lead, to inspire, as you always have. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for everything. For trust, for lessons, for the honor of being close to you“.

Today, one of the greatest legends of Romanian football left us, a personality of world football who made us proud in every moment of his life. It gave me confidence at the beginning of the journey and paved the way for my great performance. He was more than a coach, he was a mentor, a teacher, a man who believed in me and an important part of what I have become in football is due to him
