The Russian Ministry of Defense announced the creation of troop groups “Belgorod”, “Bryansk” and “Kursk”. This means that now three new temporary operational-strategic formations of the Russian Armed Forces will be stationed in the border area. They will be responsible for protecting citizens and territories from attacks by drones and other means of attack.
Defense Minister Andrei Belousov chaired a meeting of the Coordination Council on military security in the border region. There, Colonel-General Yunus-Bek Yevkurov was appointed deputy head of the coordination council for military security of border territories.
Also appointed to new positions:
— Deputy Minister of Defense Andrei Bulyga. Now he is responsible for logistics, transport and assistance to civil authorities during the evacuation of citizens;
— Deputy Minister Alexey Krivoruchko. He is responsible for military-technical support issues;
— Deputy Minister Pavel Fradkov. He is responsible for engineering and construction;
— Deputy Minister Oleg Savelyev — for interdepartmental interaction and coordination;
– Head of the Main Military Medical Directorate Dmitry Trishkin – for medical support.
For reference: troop groupings can be strategic, operational or tactical in scale. According to their purpose, they are divided into the main one, intended for operations in the most important direction (in the area) and usually including most of the forces and means, as well as others – for performing tasks in secondary directions.
