A doctor was suspended from performing a colonoscopy because he performed the procedure with his hearing aids removed and could not hear the patients screaming in pain.
A gastroenterologist from Tampa, USA, was placed on probation following an investigation by the Florida Department of Health. According to the complaint, Dr. Ishwari Prasad began the colonoscopy too early, before the pain medication began to take effect.
He did not stop the procedure, since without a hearing aid he did not hear the patients’ complaints.
