A few days before the start of this year's edition of the Țiriac Open, Flavio Cobolli (23 years old, 14 ATP), Marton Fucsovics (34 years old, 54 ATP) and Arthur Rinderknech (30 years old, 27 ATP) withdrew and will not come to Bucharest again. So, the number 1 favorite will be Gabriel Diallo (24 years old, 37 ATP).

Between March 30 and April 5, the “Simona Halep” National Tennis Center in the capital will host a new edition of the Țiriac Open. Flavio Cobolli and Marton Fucsovics, the last two winners of the competition, had announced their presence in Bucharest, but the two changed their minds and will no longer participate in the tournament in Romania.

Gabriel Diallo, world number 37, will be the main favorite for the title

In these conditions, the number 1 favorite for the title will be the Canadian Gabriel Diallo, who reached the 3rd round at Indian Wells and the 2nd round at the Miami Open. Mariano Navone (25 years old, 61 ATP), the 2024 finalist, and Sebastian Baez (25 years old, 52 ATP), the 2025 finalist, will also be present in Bucharest.

The organizers have awarded several wild cards Romanians Filip Jianu (24 years old, 243 ATP), Adrian Boitan (26 years old, 307 ATP) and Radu David Țurcanu (20 years old, 658 ATP)which will enter directly on the main board.

“I thank the organizers for the opportunity to play on the main draw. Since last year, I have seen how important matches at a higher level are, with experienced players from whom we can learn a lot. It is very important to feel on the field what is the real level you need to reach to be top 100. This year I want to play at least as well as last year and manage to bring a Romanian to the upper stages of the tournament,” Jianu said, quoted by eurosport.ro.

Nuno Borges/Victor Cornea and Alexandru Jecan/Bogdan Pavel will participate in the doubles.

“For me, a wild card is an important opportunity to evolve at the ATP 250 level, where I feel competitive. It is also a sign of trust from the organizers, which matters a lot. The fact that I will be teaming up with Nuno Borges gives me confidence and enthusiasm. I approach this opportunity with the clear objective of turning this chance into the strongest possible course,” said Cornea.
