The provisions of the government decree particularly target households with low incomes.
The annual financial aid for each child under the age of 18 amounts to 588 euros, which is about 49 euros per month, writes Larazon.
In cases where a pronounced economic vulnerability is found, the annual aid can reach approximately 638 euros, provided that the family's income does not exceed certain limits established by law.
The money must be used to cover some of the costs of raising children, such as food, education or paying current bills.
The Spanish press points out that no new requests for this form of financial support from the state are accepted. Only families who had already recognized the right to this benefit before the entry into force of the Minimum Vital Income (IMV) law and who continue to meet the legal requirements for granting the money can continue to benefit.
Among these requirements is compliance with income ceilings. The general limit is 15,356 euros, annually, per household. For large families, this threshold rises to 23,109 euros per year, with additional increases starting with the fourth child.
What is the Minimum Living Income in Spain?
According to Spanish legislation, the Vital Minimum Income is a benefit of the social insurance system intended to prevent the risk of poverty and social exclusion for people who live alone or are part of a cohabitation unit and do not have sufficient economic resources to cover their basic needs.
This aid reaches more than 2.4 million people in Spain, living in almost 800,000 households.
IMV can be applied for by persons at least 23 years old who live alone, as well as by adults or minors who, in turn, have dependent minors, either through adoption or permanent placement. The guaranteed IMV for an individual beneficiary is approximately 734 euros per month.
For cohabitation units, the amount increases by approximately 30% for each additional member, up to a ceiling of five members per family.
IMV beneficiaries also receive money for dependent minor children
Added to these aids is the supplement for supporting children, intended for families with dependent minors and linked to the IMV.
The amounts vary according to the age of the children: 115 euros per month for children under three years old, 80.50 euros per month for those between three and six years old and 57.50 euros per month for children between the ages of six and 18 years old.
