Bernardo Silva is set to leave Manchester City at the end of this season, with no intention of extending his contract with the English outfit. The Portuguese midfielder, one of the captains of the “citizens”, will thus end a cycle of eight seasons in England, and his future is already attracting the interest of several clubs.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, one of the main possible destinations is Inter Miami. The American club, led by David Beckham, is said to intend to transfer the Portuguese free of contract this summer.

Bernardo Silva could become a colleague of Lionel Messi

Inter Miami's project has steadily grown in American football, and the possibility of playing alongside stars like Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez could represent a decisive argument for the 31-year-old player, notes the quoted source.

Despite his uncertain future, Bernardo Silva remains a key piece in Pep Guardiola's squad. This season, he played in 30 Premier League matches, 26 of them as a starter.

Even though the “citizens” were knocked out of the Champions League by Real Madrid, the Portuguese midfielder recently won the League Cup against Arsenal, reaching 17 trophies won since arriving in England.

Bernardo Silva's portfolio

Trained at Benfica's academy, Bernardo Silva made the step up to the seniors in 2014, when he was transferred from AS Monaco for 15.75 million euros. In his three seasons in Ligue 1, the midfielder made 147 appearances, scoring 28 goals and providing 19 assists as he was one of the key players in France's 2017 title win.

In the summer of 2017, he signed with Manchester City for around 50 million euros. Under the command of Pep Guardiola, Silva ticked over 350 official matches, and his impressive record includes numerous domestic and international trophies including:

  • 6 Premier League titles (2018, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024)

  • 1 UEFA Champions League trophy (2023)

  • 2 FA Cups and 4 League Cups

  • Club World Championship and European Super Cup

Internationally, the footballer has more than 100 caps for Portugal, with whom he won the UEFA Nations League in 2019. Currently, according to Transfermarkt, at 31 years old, his market share is estimated at €27 million, with his contract with Manchester City expiring in June 2026.
