Mirabela Grădinaru's program in Washington: summit, sessions with experts and meetings with the First Ladies

Mirabela Grădinaru will lead the Romanian delegation to Washington DC, participating in the international summit for children's digital education, where she will have meetings with First Ladies and leaders in the field of education and health.

Mirabela Grădinaru, the life partner of President Nicușor Dan, will lead the Romanian delegation to the inaugural summit of the global coalition for children's digital education, organized at the initiative of the First Lady of the United States, Melania Trump, on March 24-25, 2026. The event brings together the First Ladies and representatives of several states, with the aim of identifying innovative solutions for supporting children and their protection in the online environment.
“The Presidential Administration announces the participation of an official delegation in Washington DC, between March 24 and 25, 2026, at the inaugural Summit of a global coalition dedicated to the digital education of children, organized at the initiative of the First Lady of the United States. The participation of the Romanian delegation takes place at the invitation addressed by the First Lady of the USA, Melania Trump, to Mrs. Mirabela Grădinaru, as part of an international effort to which other First Ladies from several countries were invited states”, sent the Presidential Administration.
The Romanian delegation includes, in addition to Mirabela Grădinaru, Vlad Ionescu, state councilor for foreign policy, and Diana Punga, state councilor for relations with civil society.
During the summit, the three will participate in working sessions dedicated to digital education, the use of technology in schools and the protection of children in the online environment, aiming at the implementation of modern tools, including solutions based on artificial intelligence, to support students, teachers and parents.
“The initiative aims to provide access to modern tools, including solutions based on artificial intelligence, to support students, teachers and parents, as well as to strengthen safety in the online environment”, stated the Presidential Administration.
The delegation's schedule includes, on March 24, a working session at the US State Department, followed on March 25 by a high-level meeting at the White House, with the participation of the First Ladies and representatives of the states involved. Discussions will focus on digital education, children's online safety and the use of technology in schools.
On the sidelines of the summit, Mirabela Grădinaru will have meetings with Lisa Choate, the president of the American Councils for International Education, an organization that runs the FLEX and FLEX Abroad educational exchange programs, as well as professional development initiatives for the public and private sectors.
The members of the delegation will also participate in a round table with Romanian doctors from the USA, specialized in the problem of addiction and related fields, involved in the activity of prestigious medical and research centers.
The visit will also include a tour of The Thrive Center for Children, Families, and Communities at Georgetown University, where the delegation will meet with Director Matthew Biel, MD, and his team to discuss best practices and programs dedicated to children and families.
