The masseur abused women. He will spend many years behind bars in prison

The court found that the man took advantage of his position, crossing the boundaries of intimacy under the guise of therapeutic treatments. The victims included: women after giving birth and a person with muscular dystrophy using a wheelchair – reports abc.net.au. The investigation began after one of the women reported it in 2023, which prompted other victims to reveal their experiences.
During the trial, the women gave evidence via video link, often interrupting because of their emotions. The prosecutor's office emphasized that Brain acted consciously and repeatedly crossed boundaries that his clients did not accept.
The accused denies the allegations. “The methods were normal”
The defendant claimed his methods were “normal” in Europe, where he had previously lived, and that he had no sexual intentions. He maintained that his goal was “freedom from pain” and that society was not ready for his approach. The court rejected these explanations, considering them an attempt to justify violence.
Victims' statements emphasized the loss of a sense of security and trust in themselves and health professionals. Judge Lisa Tovey noted that it was the perpetrator, not the victims, who should feel shame and guilt. The sentence was backdated to November 2025, when Brain was placed in custody. Brain will not be eligible for parole until 2039.
