The court decides to suspend Nicuşor Constantinescu's sentence for three months, for medical reasons. The decision is not final

The Bucharest Court of Appeal decided to suspend for three months, for medical reasons, the 10-year sentence to which the former president of the Constanţa County Council Nicusor Constantinescu was sentenced. The decision of the magistrates is not final and can be appealed within three days of communication.
“Criminal sentence no. 52/F of 18.03.2026 – (…) admits the request for suspension of the execution of the sentence made by the convicted petitioner Constantinescu Daniel Nicuşor, currently held in the Jilava Penitentiary. It orders the suspension of the execution of the 10-year prison sentence, ordered by Criminal Sentence no. 142F/29.07.2016 pronounced by the Bucharest Court of Appeal in the file No. 6854/2014, final by Criminal Decision No. 239/A/11.07.2019 issued by the High Court of Cassation, on the basis of which it was issued Minute No. 398 of 11.07.2019, for a period of 3 (three) months, starting from the date of the final decision. The court established that, during the suspension of the execution of the sentence, Nicusor Constantinescu must comply with several obligations, among which: not to leave Romania, not to change his residence without prior information of the court, not to possess or use weapons, to present himself immediately to the health facility where he is to undergo treatment.
The Bucharest Court of Appeal mentioned that if these obligations are violated, then it will order the revocation of the interruption and the execution of the punishment.
The decision can be appealed within three days of communication.
Nicusor Constantinescu led the Constanța County Council from the PSD side for 10 years.
