Surgeons scalped the Kuzbass man to remove a dent similar to a “third eye”

March 19 18:00

Inhabitant Mariinsk was hospitalized with a fracture of the anterior walls of both frontal sinuses – the bones of the skull were pressed inward, forming a noticeable dent on his forehead, reminiscent of a third eye.

As VSE42.RU reports with reference to the regional Ministry of Health, A 28-year-old man was admitted to the emergency hospital. ABOUTThey decided to carry out the operation urgently to prevent tissue scarring.

Usually in such cases an incision is made across the forehead, but this leaves a scar up to 20 centimeters long. Doctors chose a more complex bicoronary method. It consists of an incision in the scalp and detachment of a flap of soft tissue along with the periosteum, essentially removing the scalp.

This allowed surgeons to access the damaged areas, clear the frontal sinuses, remove the hematoma and bone fragments, and then restore the shape of the skull. At the same time, it was possible to preserve facial muscles and avoid a noticeable scar on the face. The patient is currently undergoing treatment.
