Poland, together with a group of EU countries, sent a letter to the European Commission to enable the continuation of free emission allowances for industry, including for Polish industry – said Prime Minister Donald Tusk at the PowerConnect conference in Gdańsk.

The head of government emphasized that the goal of Polish energy policy, in addition to building new independent energy sources, is the lowest possible energy prices.
Poland wants a specific approach to the Polish energy sector
“Together with a group of countries, I sent a letter to the European Commission, it is actually a very tough manifesto of Poland, Italy, Belgium, Austria, Bulgaria, Slovakia, Greece. I know that other countries are also willing to support us in this demand to continue free emission allowances for industry, including, of course, for Polish industry,” Tusk said.
He added that he would also convince European partners to change their philosophy and make profound adjustments to their climate policy.
“In such a way that each Member State can count on a specific approach that takes into account its characteristics – in the case of Poland, this is also important when it comes to the energy sector due to its past,” the Prime Minister noted, referring to the process of abandoning fossil fuels in the Polish energy sector.
