RO-Alert in the area last night as well, against the backdrop of Russian attacks on Ukraine

A Ro-Alert message was also issued in the area on the night of Monday to Tuesday, at 1:55 a.m., in the context of the Russian forces carrying out a new series of drone attacks on civilian and infrastructure targets in Ukraine, in the vicinity of the river border with Romania in Tulcea county, the Ministry of National Defense (MApN) informed.

“Elements of an air vehicle were reported to have fallen on the national territory in the area of the Plauru locality. After the termination of the air alert, around 3:00 a.m., a research team began checks in the field. Until this moment, the impact area has not been identified. The search will continue with the improvement of visibility,” MApN also stated in the Tuesday morning press release.

Defense Minister: “Tonight 21 drones came towards Romania”

After the MApN release, during press statements at the Parliament, the Minister of Defense said that last night “21 drones came towards Romania”, but they did not enter the national airspace.

“The situation in Plauru last night did not involve an incursion into the Romanian airspace. Last night 21 drones came towards Romania, they did not enter Romania. It happens, sometimes, that they enter for a very narrow portion. We have measures to counteract these situations depending on the severity of the consequences”, said Radu Miruță, quoted by News.ro.

He mentioned that “we can't always catch these situations on the radar.”

“It's a matter of terrain, it's also a matter of the area where a drone can be deployed, that you can't take down a drone if that means the explosion above two or three houses. The Romanian Army is analyzing all these scenarios,” Minister Radu Miruță also declared.
