According to preliminary estimates, the total resources of the deposit range from 5.3 to 9.4 million barrels of oil equivalent. This includes approximately 450-810 million cubic meters of natural gas.
Mining without building new infrastructure
A new deposit is found in the area of Sleipner field – one of Orlen's most important mining hubs on the Norwegian Continental Shelf.
The well enabling the identification of resources was drilled from the Sleipner B platform. Thanks to this, it will be possible to start production without the need to build additional infrastructure.
Shares in the concession are held by: project operator Equinor (58.35%), Orlen Upstream Norway (24.41%) and Var Energi (17.24%).

Gas will flow to Poland
As Wiesław Prugar, member of the Orlen management board responsible for the mining segment, emphasized: the use of existing infrastructure will significantly reduce investment costs and accelerate the start of production.
According to the company, the deposit it can start generating revenue just a few weeks after its discovery. The extracted gas is to be delivered to Poland via the Baltic Pipe.
The raw material from the Sleipner area first goes to the terminal in Karsto, and then through the Europipe II gas pipeline and the Danish transmission system to Baltic Pipe.
Another discovery this year
Orlen pointed out that the inclusion of the Frida Kahlo gas field in production will increase the efficiency of the use of infrastructure in the Sleipner area, which in 2025 was responsible for approximately 30%. the company's mining operations in Norway.
This is the second discovery made by the group in this area in 2026. In January, the company announced the discovery of the Sissel field deposit, the resources of which are estimated at 6.3-28.3 million barrels of oil equivalent, including from 0.6 to 2.7 billion cubic meters. gas.
