Manchester Citythe team prepared by Pep Guardiola, beat the Newcastle 3-1, away, and qualified for the “quarters” of the FA Cup.
Savinho and Marmoush, with a “double”, returned the score opened by Barnes, but even in the conditions of such a victory, Pep Guardiola still had a nervous breakdown and chose a “yellow”.
Manchester City's manager lost control in the second half of the match at St. James' Park, protesting vehemently in front of the fourth official. The reason? A foul by Kieran Trippier on his winger, Jeremy Doku, who he pulled by the shirt.
Pep Guardiola: “Now we have all the records”
Pep was annoyed when he saw referee Sam Barrott not call the foul: “When Jeremy Doku dribbles on Trippier, he gets out on his own in the box and is pulled from behind, I'm not asking for a yellow card, but it's a foul. I'll defend my team.”
Instead, Barrott showed him a yellow card for protesting. And as it's the 6th warning he's seen this season, a record for a Premier League manager!, Guardiola faces a 2 stage ban!
“I'll tell you something. We have all the records in this country, all of them. We now have the record for the manager with the most yellow cards. I wanted all the records and now I have them,” commented the Manchester City manager.
Pep Guardiola: “There are things that even after 10 years I can't understand”
Under the new rules introduced this season, Premier League managers are suspended for one match for 3 yellow cards received and two for 6 yellow cards, regardless of competition.
If he accumulates three more “yellows” and reaches 9, Guardiola will be suspended for three matches. And if he racks up 12 warnings, he will face a disciplinary charge from the FA and a charge from the Regulatory Commission.
Pep's suspension is valid for the next match in the championship, with West Ham, and for the match he will play in the “quarters” of the Cup, against an opponent to be named: “Now I have a two game suspension and will be going on vacation. Oh my God! Oh my God! There are things that even after 10 years I can't understand”.
