In the Cup, Metalul finished the group in 2nd place. It lost to U Cluj (1-2) and defeated Sporting Liești (4-1) and Sepsi (1-0). Dinamo won its group, prevailed in the match with CS Dinamo (2-0), drew with Farul (0-0) and beat Hermannstadt, 2-0.
Before the match in the quarters, dynamists Zeljko Kopic and Cristi Mihai prefaced the game.
We are the favorite team. We are playing against a team from the second division. They are a good team, they deserve to be here in the quarters. We have to be ready, be at our best. We are favorites and we want to qualify for the semi-finals. That's what I prepared the match for.
We will make some changes, I have analyzed our last game and I want to change a few things. The objective is to win the match. We also talked about how we present ourselves in the last 25 meters, about how we handle the situations from which we can score. Sometimes we don't make the last pass. This is something we can improve.

We are favourites, we approach the match with victory, we want to play our game, be very aggressive, recover the ball in the opposing third and score as quickly as possible.
We know it's uncomfortable to play a League 2 team because when they play a Super League team they really want to win that game, they have a very big ambition, but we have to be calm, do what we have to do and win.
