President Nicusor Dan will receive, on Tuesday, at the Cotroceni Palace, the ambassador-at-large of the United States of America, Darryl Nirenberg, on the occasion of the presentation of the credentials, after which the diplomat will officially take over his position, according to News.ro.
The reception is scheduled for 14.00.
At the end of February, Darryl Nirenberg took the oath as the ambassador of the United States to Romania, he will officially assume his position after presenting his credentials.
“Darryl Nirenberg has been sworn in as the United States Ambassador to Romania. The United States Embassy in Bucharest looks forward to working under his leadership to deepen the strong and sustainable partnership between the United States and Romania,” announced the US Embassy in Bucharest.
American President Donald Trump announced on May 25, 2025 that Darryl Nirenberg will be the new US ambassador to Bucharest. He has 40 years of experience and will continue to support US interests in Bucharest.
“It will help us strengthen our ties with Romania, support our military partnership, promote and defend America's economic and security interests abroad,” Trump said.
Nirenberg was officially nominated on June 18, 2025, and on December 19 he was confirmed in office by a vote of the United States Senate.
“Congratulations to Darryl Nirenberg for being confirmed as ambassador of the United States of America to Romania. We look forward to his contribution to the consolidation of American policy and to representing President Trump in the relationship with one of our closest allies,” the US Embassy in Bucharest said at the time.
