Radu Miruță (40 years old), the Minister of Defense, spoke about a series of problems identified at CSA Steaua and about the rent charged at the stadium in Ghencea, which he claims is even higher than the one at the National Arena.
He identified several irregularities and even revealed that the handball team paid an amount five times higher than it should have been to rent the hall where they play.
Asked about the 2 million euro budget allocated to the football section of the “military”, in the context where promotion is not allowed, Radu Miruță answered:
“Probably for political and, perhaps, financial combinations of some businessmen from Romania, which I change, without looking left or right.
I think there are more people interested in what is happening at the Army Sports Club, or rather what is not happening. I tell you basically. If you are good, only someone better than you can stop you. You can't be stopped by someone who says: “I beat you on the lawn, but I have the power with the pen in my hand and I give a paper saying that you are not allowed to play anymore because I don't want to, but you beat me, in fact.”
That's what happens there. At least in the area of football – and there are many sports where there is performance -, they competed in the second division, in the second league, several times, they came in first place to promote and on paper they were not allowed to do that. I will change that“, said Miruță, on the show “Insider Politic” on Prima TV, quoted by news.ro.

How could Steaua promote in the Superliga
Later, the defense minister also said what would be the two options by which CSA Steaua could receive the right to promotion in the first league.
“There are two methods. Either change the law, where I understand that there are others who want it not to change, we will see how successful they are. Either through a private association. It is my challenge to find a method by which the one who comes to invest can also decide”, said Miruță.
“What is happening there now is a mockery for every person in Romania. That stadium is a modern stadium, a new stadium, a beautiful stadium. It does not produce money because the national stadium, which is bigger, was rented for 35,000 euros.
And this stadium, 45,000 euros had been paid for by the ministry. I mean, they put an extra 10,000 euros on it so that no one would come to rent us, lest it start to breathe,” added Miruță.
