The main character of “The Hussar Ballad” has been fighting Waldenström's disease since 2014. She was diagnosed in Germany. The pathology was sluggish and developed slowly until 2022. Then Larisa Ivanovna completed the first courses of chemotherapy and managed to achieve remission. This year the disease began to progress. In July, Golubkina was hospitalized, and in August, a medical commission declared her terminally ill and in need of palliative care.
