“I don't think it's the right punishment”

Marius Lăcătuș (61 years old), the former great striker of Stela and the national team, he reacted after the decision of the Disciplinary Commission from the FRF, following the scandal at the end of the CFR Cluj – U Cluj match (3-2), which had Cristiano Bergodi and Andrei Cordea in the foreground.

Bergodi was suspended for one month, while Cordea received three stages of suspension, two of which have already been served.

Marius Lăcătuș, about the suspension of Cristiano Bergodi: “They could give him up to 10 stages”

  • The context of the incident: immediately after the final whistle, Bergodi, visibly nervous, jumped to beat Cordea. The technician claimed that he was cursed by the footballer, while Cordea claimed that the insults were directed at Dan Nistor, who was nearby.

Lăcătuș believes that the sanctions are not proportionate to the images seen on television.

“Honestly, I don't think it's the right punishment. If they gave Cordea 3 stages, they could give Bergodi up to 10 stages, from what I saw on TV. I understood that it was not the first time, it was outside the technical space. I think that if there was a brigade of referees with more experience and a fourth referee gave him a yellow and calmed down, it would not have ended here. I have nothing with Cristiano Bergodi.”

Lăcătuș, message also for Florentin Petre: “If he is suspended or fined, he will not do it again”

“Fiara” also commented on the gesture of Florentin Petre, who cursed rival Steaua alongside the Dynamo ultras.

“I don't remember swearing myself when I was playing. Maybe if a player had a reaction to the gallery when certain chants were made, maybe yes, we would react, but I don't remember the gallery calling us all to go like that.

You take responsibility when you do certain things, and the committee people can take action. If he will be suspended or fined, probably the second time Florentin Petre will not make the chants he did“, said Marius Lacatus on the show “Footbal Club” from Digi Sport.
