Dacia produces the Spring electric car in China and another, much smaller model could follow. The French publication La Tribune writes that the Romanian-French brand is analyzing the idea of building a much smaller electric car in China based on the Hipster concept.

The Dacia Hipster concept is only 3 meters long – while a Sandero is 4 meters long, and the Spring, also a small car, is 3.7 meters long. The Hipster concept was presented in the fall of 2025.

The car reaches a maximum of 90 km/h and in the series version will not have an autonomy greater than 150 km.

Dacia Hipster is part of a new European trend: electric city cars, very small, with prices as close as possible to those of cars with thermal engines. Dacia clearly sees that it is an area where a model that costs under 20,000 euros, but is also smaller and cheaper than the electric Spring, would fit in well.

At the end of 2027, Renault's low-cost subsidiary hopes to launch a very simple car, only three meters long, derived from the Hipster concept. The car could cost under 15,000 euros, write the French from the publication La Tribune.

“From the moment we make the decision, it only takes a year and a half for development; the conception time within the group is today very short”, says Katrin Adt, Dacia CEO.

The decision to produce this three-meter-long quadricycle has not yet been officially made, but the probability is high. Renault CEO François Provost could announce the project at the presentation of the strategic plan on March 10, the French write. If the green light is given, the vehicle would go on the market in almost two years, say the sources cited by the French.

Most likely, the car will be produced at the factory where the Spring electric car has been built for five years, in Hubei province, within the company eGT New Energy Automotive, a joint venture owned by Renault and Nissan (25% each) and Dongfeng (50%), the French also write.

The Hipster concept weighs only 800 kg, while the Spring has almost a ton and the Sandero, 1,100 kg.
