A team of humanoid robots performed a martial arts performance alongside kung fu artists at the 2026 Spring Festival Gala. The event holds the record Guinness World Records for the most watched TV show in the world, according to CGTN.
The humanoid robots performed on stage alongside the young kung fu masters, performing acrobatics and synchronized movements. After a first part dedicated to classical martial arts techniques, the moment moved to an accelerated pace, which highlighted the agility and physical dexterity of the machines.
The demonstration included the use of traditional weapons such as swords and the nunchaku (a fighting tool consisting of two short sticks joined by a chain), with the robots maintaining balance and precision during rapid movements.
The moment was part of the Gala broadcast by China Media Group (CMG), the state-owned media conglomerate that brings together China's main television and radio stations.
The show, known as 'Chunwan', holds the Guinness World Records for the most-watched television show worldwide and is the centerpiece of the Chinese New Year celebrations.
The Spring Festival is the most important traditional holiday for the Chinese people, and watching the gala is an annual tradition in hundreds of millions of homes. From December 2024, the festival is included in the UNESCO List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
