In 2025, a total of 195 new patients were enrolled in the genetic testing program, confirming the importance of continuing this approach at the national level. Among them, the geographical distribution shows that most come from Bucharest (over 100) and Cluj (50), respectively Timiș (16) and Iași (15).

Since its launch, the program has helped 722 children diagnosed with various forms of cancer to benefit from free genetic testing, giving them a clearer perspective on the right treatment.

The most common types of oncology identified among patients enrolled in the program remain hematologic cancers, such as leukemia and lymphoma, and among solid tumors, those of the central nervous system (glioma, medulloblastoma) are predominant, followed by sarcomas.

Through detailed genetic analysis, oncologists can select targeted therapies, thus optimizing treatment strategies for each child. The program reiterates MedLife's commitment to support innovation in pediatric oncology and to reduce the differences between access to medical services in Romania and international standards.

“For us, #SperanțaNuMoareDeCancer means more than a medical approach – it is real support offered to children, but also to their families, for an extra chance at life. The data from 2025 unfortunately confirm the real and constant need for such initiatives, and the fact that, since the start of the program, we have been able to support more than 700 pediatric patients shows us not only the extent of this problem at the national level, but also the responsibility we have as an organization – that of continuing to invest in modern medical solutions, aligned with international standards. Through this initiative, MedLife assumes the role of an active partner of the medical system and society, supporting access to advanced diagnosis and a real chance for personalized treatments.”,
declared Ina Bădărău-Ilie, Director of Communication within the MedLife Group.

At the beginning of this program, the multiple European and world junior and senior swimming champion joined, as an ambassador, David Popovich, who donated one of his soul medals. Later, other world champions joined the initiative to similarly support #SperanțaNuMoareDeCancer: Maria Olaru, Beatrice Câșlaru, Mihai Leu, Lăcrămioara Perijoc and Cătălina Ponor.

About the program:

The program started by MedLife targets patients between the ages of 0 and 18, diagnosed with cancer in the last four months from the date the program was launched. Enrolling children in the #SperantaNuMoareDeCancer program is done through relatives or the oncologist by filling in a form and uploading the medical file on the page www.medlife.ro/speranta-nu-moare-de-cancer.

All applications are reviewed by a dedicated medical team within 10 working days. Patients who meet the conditions for enrollment in the program will be contacted to communicate the next steps. Depending on the diagnosis of each patient, MedLife specialists collaborate with attending physicians to obtain tissue samples, in the case of solid tumors, or from the bone marrow, in the case of leukemias, in order to carry out genetic testing in the MedLife Genetics and Molecular Biology laboratory. For patients enrolled in the program, the test results are provided within two to three weeks of receiving the sample in the laboratory, based on which the oncologist can choose the most suitable therapies for each child.

#SperanțaNuMoareDeCancer is a program with national coverage, carried out by MedLife exclusively with its own funds, the tests will be offered free of charge to children who enroll in the program and meet the conditions presented.
