The Romanians started beating the Hungarians. Gloria Bistrita secured the 4th place in the handball Champions League group

After CSM Bucharest achieved its 7th consecutive victory in group B of the Champions League in handball yesterday, 35-30 against Ferencvaros, today Gloria Bistrița won the match against other Hungarian opponents, 32-31 and secured the fourth position in Group A.

Before the game, the Transylvanian and Hungarian women were in direct battle for the 4th place, which means a duel in the play-off for the quarters with the 5th position in the other group, now occupied by the Swedish women from Ikast. Gloria broke away midway through the first period at 10-7, but lost the lead as Debrecen tied it at 10. It was neck-and-neck at halftime, with the Hungarians taking a 17-16 advantage at the booths.

Debrecen missed a 7 meters at the end of the game

In the 40th minute, the Romanian team restored the three-goal lead (22-19), but DVCS equalized again, only for the scenario to repeat itself: Debrecen tied at 25 5 minutes before the end of the game, after Gloria had 25-22. In the end, the Bistrites took advantage of a two-minute elimination of an opponent and scored from 7 meters for 32-31, only for the guest to miss a penalty shot and a counterattack, so the Romanians achieved the victory at the limit.

Regardless of the result of the last game in the group, with Storhamar, Gloria Bistrița will finish the group stage in the fourth position and awaits the opponent in the play-off for the eighth, most likely Ikast, with minimal chances of being Ferencvaros or even CSM Bucharest.
