The week will start sluggishly in the markets in the absence of Americans celebrating the birthday of the first president. Later, however, it will be more interesting thanks to numerous data from the Polish and global economy.

Monday, February 16

Stock markets in the US will be off on Monday to celebrate President's Day – the national holiday of Americans. It is a federal holiday in the United States observed annually on the third Monday of February. The cyclical event was established in honor of George Washington, the first president of the United States, who was born on February 22, 1732. The dance floor in Canada is also closed on this day due to Family Day.

In the macro calendar we have data on Japan's GDP and industrial production for the fourth quarter, data on Switzerland's GDP for the fourth quarter, and CPI inflation in Slovakia for January. We will also find out what the December reading of industrial production in the euro zone was.

A number of NewConnect companies are scheduled to publish their reports for the fourth quarter of the financial year on the WSE. BHP, the world's largest mining company, will announce the results on global markets.

Tuesday, February 17

On Tuesday at At 8.00 a package of data from the British labor market will appear. At the same time, the inflation reading in Germany for January will be published. Two hours later we will know the reading of the German ZEW index. In the afternoon, the readings of the American indices will arrive: NY Empire State regarding the manufacturing sector in New York State and the NAHB Real Estate Market Index.

Orange will show preliminary results for the fourth quarter on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.

Wednesday, February 18

On Wednesday night, data on the Japanese trade balance will arrive. In the morning in Europe, there are inflation readings in Great Britain and France.

In the afternoon, the US will release numbers regarding industrial production in January, mortgage loan applications granted and house construction starts. At At 8 p.m., the minutes of the last Fed meeting, at which the interest rate cut was suspended, will be published. In addition, the US Treasury Department will present a report containing data on capital flows. This concerns the inflow of net capital and the inflow of long-term capital.

The results that day will be published by Booking, the defense industry BAE System, and the mining company Glencore. Orange will show preliminary results for the fourth quarter on the WSE.

Thursday, February 19

Data from Poland will attract the most attention of Polish investors. The Central Statistical Office will provide a package of data on industrial production, wages, employment and construction and assembly production.

In the afternoon in the US we have data on the foreign trade balance, the Philadelphia Fed indexes and the Conference Board's oversold indicator. The calendar also includes several speeches by Fed members. As every week, data on the change in weekly fuel stocks will also be shown.

The results of this day will be proud of, among others: Walmart, Alibaba, Rio Tinto, Airbus, Newmont Goldcorp.

In turn, the WSE has a lot of reports from WIG20 giants: Orlen, PKO, Pekao.

Friday, February 20

On Friday, the Japanese will show the CPI inflation report. It will also be the day of publication of February PMI readings from large economies. The Japanese will show the data at night, at 9.15. The French, at 9.30 a.m. the Germans, and at 10 a.m. collective data for the entire euro zone will be shown. Then at 10.30 the British will show off, and in the afternoon at 15.45 Americans.

Moreover, in the morning the Germans will report producer inflation, the British – retail sales, and the Hungarians – wage dynamics.

In the USA, on this day we will be looking for GDP data for the fourth quarter. The market expects dynamics of 3%. There will also be PCE inflation data for December. There will also be a reading of the University of Michigan index and a report on Americans' inflation expectations.

Warner Bros. is scheduled to show the results on Friday. Discovery. MOL and Estonian companies from Patro Invest OU will show the results on the WSE.
