Owners of Chinese Infinix phones purchased in Russia are massively complaining about gadgets being blocked abroad. The manufacturer stated that this is a protection system for their new product, which was just brought to the Russian Federation.
According to one of the victims, during travel and business trips, the phone turned into a piece of useless plastic – everything stopped working, only the announcement “your device is blocked” was displayed. The man assures that everything was fine until he connected to Egyptian wi-fi. Others' infinixes turned off without connecting to a foreign Wifi.
Manufacturers responded to complaints like this: nihao everyone, regional blocking does exist, but only applies to non-activated devices. For everything to be smooth, you need to make two or three calls from a Russian SIM card, each lasting 30 minutes. When asked what to do if such a call in roaming would cost more than the phone itself, they remained silent.
UPD. Infinix told Mash that they are already aware of the problem and are addressing it. They assure that the cases are isolated.
