The viral Japanese dessert that took the internet by storm: just yogurt and cookies, no baking and no effort

A new dessert has gone viral on social media: Japanese yogurt and biscuit cheesecake, touted as a “healthy, low-calorie” alternative. The simple recipe has won over sweet lovers around the world, and Jamila Cuisine, known for its inventive reinterpretations, has prepared its own version of this dessert.

“Have you heard of the viral cheesecake with yogurt and crackers? It's been all over the world and I couldn't help but test it myself. I've prepared my no-bake, no-cream-cheese version of the Japanese yogurt cheesecake!” Jamila stated.
The basic recipe is simple: mix 600 grams of Greek yogurt with 30-50 grams of powdered sugar or condensed milk and a spoonful of natural vanilla extract. The cookies, about 200 grams, are softened and placed vertically or in layers between the creams, and the dessert is left overnight in the refrigerator for the cookies to absorb moisture and acquire the texture of a top.
“You get a delicious yogurt cheesecake, extremely creamy and delicate, without the need for gelatin or the oven. This variant is ideal for a quick and very light treat”Jamila added.
She proposed three versions: the classic one, the one with Biscoff biscuits and the Romanian version with Eugenia biscuits.
“If you love intense flavors, Biscoff cheesecake will immediately win you over with its caramel notes. For one authentic taste of childhoodthe version with Eugenia biscuits is surprising. A combination of smooth cream and crunchy biscuits that disappears immediately from the plate”Jamila explained.
Jamila also provided details on assembling the dessert.
“I'll start with Greek yogurt that I sweeten lightly, with powdered sugar, honey or condensed milk. I add a spoonful of natural vanilla extract and mix the cream well. Then I place the first layer of cookies and put the cream on top, alternating the layers until the last one. Finally, on top of the last layer of cookies, I add slightly warmed spreadable cream, for extra texture.” Jamila said.
The result is a spectacular dessert, ready to enjoy after only a few hours in the refrigerator.
“It remains a fluffy cheesecake with yogurt, but it acquires a nostalgic note that makes it disappear immediately from the plate. It is proof that an easy Japanese cheesecake recipe can be quickly transformed into an original Romanian dessert”she concluded.
The public is invited to test the recipe and choose their favorite version: classic, with Biscoff or Romanian with Eugenia.
“Regardless of the flavor, Japanese cream cheese cheesecake remains the perfect base for any time of day. The no-bake yogurt cheesecake technique is a lifesaver when you don't want to use fire,” a concluded Jamila.
The recipe is viral on the internet, and several cooking enthusiasts have already tried to prepare it at home.
