Cătălin Cîrjan, about the new contract at Dinamo and the match against Craiova: “We were actually talking in the dressing room…”

Cătălin Cîrjan (23 years old), Dinamo's captain, participated in the press conference preceding the match with Craiova University (Monday, 20:00). On Saturday, he signed a contract extension until 2029.
This winter, Cătălin Cîrjan was offered by Metalist 1925 Kharkiv, a team from the first league of Ukraine, but he chose to continue at Dinamo. He insists on the idea that he wants to win the title with the red and white team, before taking the step abroad.
To cement the contract, Dinamo proposed an extension until 2029, with a termination clause worth 5 million euros. Cîrjan accepted the offer and signed the new contract on Saturday. Today, he explained his decision.
Cătălin Cîrjan signed the extension with Dinamo: “I signed with my eyes closed”
“I would really like to play in the new stadium. Now, only God knows what the plan will be for me. For now, I'm thinking about these 6 months. I want us to win the championship, then we'll see what happens.
Honestly, I'm very calm now. There was a lot of talk about the contract, there was also the issue with the offers. Now I am very calm and can focus on what I have to do.
First of all, I feel at home. Sure, I want to reach the highest level, but for me, playing at home, at Dinamo, at the club of my childhood, is a dream come true. I'm very happy here, that's why I signed on.
I can say yes, I signed with my eyes closed. I wasn't really interested in the contract. My father spoke to my agent before, yesterday I went with my father, I signed and everything is fine,” he said in the first phase.
Cătălin Cîrjan: “My dream is to play in Spain”
The Dinamo midfielder added that he dreams of playing in the Spanish first league, not the Premier League, although he was part of Arsenal's London Academy:
“I don't know if I necessarily want to play in England. It's my dream to play in Spain, but I would like to finish my career at Dinamo. To catch a transfer abroad, and at the end of my career to return to Dinamo“.
I received many messages, many comments. I feel the love of the fans since I came to Dinamo. I'm living my dream, it's something very beautiful and I hope to give back all this support.

Cătălin Cîrjan: “The most important match in this championship”
Regarding the match on Monday night, Cîrjan wanted to emphasize its importance. The winning team will finish the stage in first place. In case of a tie, the 1st place would go to Olten.
“I think we have the most beautiful football in Romania, but now we have to go on the field tomorrow and prove it. I hope it will be a spectacular match, for the people who come to the stadium to enjoy. But in the end, it can be a boring 1-0, just to win and be in first place.
Just the other day I was talking in the dressing room and I was saying that this is the most important match so far in this championship. We can climb to the top, and then be on our own until the end. This is how we see things, we see this match as very important. We have to enter the field to win”, Cîrjan said.
Alexi [Pop] he is an amazing boy, he works very hard in training and I am very happy for him. So far he has brought us 7 points and I hope he will keep it that way until the end of the championship.
