The “Heroes of Timișoara” stadium, a new stadium in the city on the Bega, is taking shape. Although the work was supposed to be completed in the first half of this year, plans have changed.
Alfred Simonis, the president of the Timiș County Council, said that the stadium will not be ready this summer.

The “Heroes of Timișoara” arena, located on a plot of land with an area of 9,000 square meters, will have a capacity of 10,100 seats. Although the stadium was expected to be ready in the first half of 2026, Alfred Simonis posted a message on his personal Facebook page stating that the stadium will not be ready this summer.
“Timiș County Council is contributing 20 million lei for the construction of the arena, and half of this amount has already been transferred to Timișoara City Hall. As the construction site advances and the municipality comes to us with invoices, we will also pay the difference up to 20 million lei.
It is obvious to everyone that this stadium will not be ready this summer. A more alert pace is needed, and if the slow evolution is caused by the lack of money, the Timiș County Council will come up with additional amounts for the timely completion of the works, but this must be said by the representatives of the Timișoara City Hall.
Many of you asked us why we decided to come alongside the City Hall and financially support this investment, especially after the attacks of some representatives of the City Hall. The answer is as simple as possible: for us, political color and bellicose statements do not matter. It is important that Timișoara has this stadium, even if it is smaller, at the moment, it is equally important that Poli plays in a new stadium and, why not, we can also organize concerts or shows here.”
The stadium located in the southeast of the city will also benefit from a parking lot with 450 places, and a park will be set up next to it. The arena in Timișoara will be category 4, according to UEFA and IFAB requirements. The “Heroes of Timisoara” arena will be able to host international competitions.
