A Russian drone “Gerbera” crashed in Moldova. Photo

The place was fenced off and the explosives service was called. Experts examined the drone and came to the conclusion that it was a Gerbera.

The police did not indicate the country of origin of this UAV, but the troops of the aggressor country of the Russian Federation regularly attack Ukraine with Gerbers.

The discovered drone, according to Moldovan law enforcement officers, did not contain an explosive charge.

The Moldovan Ministry of Foreign Affairs responded to the incident and “strongly condemned” it.

“The Republic of Moldova reaffirms its commitment to the protection of sovereignty, territorial integrity and the security of citizens. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is closely monitoring developments in coordination with the competent national institutions,” the statement said.

Context

This is not the first time Russian UAVs have been discovered in Moldova. The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine explained that the Russian Federation is actively using Gerbera drones to overload the Ukrainian air defense. They are made from plywood and polystyrene foam using foreign-made components.
