The Romanian national rugby team found out today the schedule of matches it will play at the World Championship in Australia, a tournament that will be organized in 2027, from October 1 to November 13.
Romania's first match will take place on October 3, 2027, in Townsville, against Georgia.

After the debut against Georgia, the “Oaks” will play Italy, and then end the group stage with a duel against South Africa, the holder of the trophy.
For the first time in the history of the competition, “Super Sunday” will take place on October 17, when five group stage matches will take place, and Romania will be one of the protagonists: Italy – Georgia, Ireland – Uruguay, Scotland – Portugal, France – Samoa and South Africa – Romania.

The World Cup in Australia is the first edition that will line up at the start 24 teams divided into 6 groups. After the group matches, in which each team will play each other, the top two ranked teams from each group qualify directly for the round of 16, where the four best ranked teams that finished the groups in 3rd place will also advance (scoring is taken into account).
These games will take place between October 23-24. The quarter-finals are scheduled for October 30 and 31, the semifinals for November 5 and 6, the match for 3rd place, implicitly the bronze medals, will take place on November 12, and the grand final on November 13.
The opening match of the tournament will take place on October 1, 2027, in Perth, Australia – Hong Kong.

Before the draw, Alin Petrache, president of the Romanian Rugby Federation, spoke about Romania's presence at the final tournament in Antipozi.
“In a competition of this magnitude, I don't know what relevance it has who is our first or last opponent. Let's not forget that it's a new format of the World Cup, which also gives the third-placed teams the opportunity to advance to the next stage of the competition, with the best four teams that finish in third place advancing to the round of 16, so the fight will be that much closer.
Much more important to us is our evolution, to be 100% for every match, to give everything, to show beautiful rugby, to make our supporters proud. The “Oaks” have always managed to win everyone's hearts in this competition, let's not forget here the historic comeback in the match against the Canadian team, then one of the fastest tries scored by Ireland, these are moments that make the rugby world happy.
