PAOK is in mourning, after the tragedy that happened this afternoon with the minibus carrying ten fans of the team from Thessaloniki. The road accident in Timiș County, resulting in 7 deaths and 3 injuries, shocked the entire “Dikefalos” community.

The supporters were going from the north of Greece to Lyon, where Răzvan Lucescu's team will play on Thursday for direct qualification in the round of 16 of the Europa League, but the devastating collision with a tanker truck traveling in the opposite direction dramatically stopped their journey to France.

“Tears flow from the eyes. The pain overwhelms you, knocks you down, crushes you. Another dark day for PAOK”

A TIR was also involved in the terrible accident, which the minibus with the Greek fans overtook before the impact. The tragedy occurred on the European road E70, near the town of Lugojel.

After president Ivan Savvidis posted a message of compassion and condolences towards the victims of the accident, PAOK published a letter with a strong emotional impact:

“Time stops. It freezes. Words dry up. Pain pierces body and mind. Tears flow from eyes. Pain overwhelms you, knocks you down, crushes you. Another black day.

Another indescribable tragedy for the PAOK family.

Farewell to our children, whose love for those four letters took them far.

“The love for PAOK carried them, left them, but their souls will forever remain under the wings of “Dikefalos””

This love for PAOK carried them there, left them there and moved on, but their souls will forever remain under the wings of «Dikefalos».

My deepest condolences to the families of these children. In their unbearable pain, they will not be alone. The big PAOK family will always be by their side to ease their pain as much as possible.

Our thoughts are also with the injured, who are fighting their own battle.

One wish… Never again…”
