“Dump and filth” who had taken control of the Velodrome in Dinamo Sports Park is history! The space has been completely beautified and can now even host friendly matches of the League 2 team. The decor has changed drastically over the years. In the past, when the situation of the “Dinamo” stadium was uncertain, the “dogs” planned to build the new arena right here, on the site of the Velodrome!
Even though it no longer has its original purpose and no longer hosts cycling competitions, the Velodrome in the Dinamo Sports Complex has gone through a significant change in appearance. Thus, the plan of CS Dinamo officials, to transform the space into one that serves the needs of the League 2 team, has taken serious shape.

The “velodrome” has come back to life and can host football matches
Forget the debacle that reigned here a few years ago!
The velodrome has gone through a modernization process that replaced the old decor, which was dominated by shards, rubbish and cracked pieces of cementwith a decent training ground, which can also host test matches, without jeopardizing the integrity of the players.
A week ago, CS Dinamo, the team coached by Florin Bratu, played a friendly match here in the company of the Bulgarians from Dunav Ruse, a game lost by the “dogs” with 0-5. Later, the band from northern Bulgaria published several images on their official Instagram account, and the photos capture the transformation that took place at the old velodrome.
A high-performance synthetic pitch was installed, the stands were also beautified, and the garbage is gone!

Significant difference since the last visit of Gazeta
One year ago, on January 7, 2025, Gazeta Sporturilor visited the secondary grounds of the sports complex in Ștefan cel Mare, where extensive works had already been started in the “Velodrome” area and the “Piti Varga” training ground.
Progress has been made since then: the operation of uncovering the old lawn had been completed and the procedures for deepening the surface had begun, the rubble being transported outside.
In October 2024, CS Dinamo completed the public tender, signing contracts totaling 3,272,050 RON (without VAT) with three companies.
The purpose of the investment? Construction works and the development of old land in the complexthe restoration of their foundation and all the activities derived from this: drainage, delivery and installation of gravel, sand, granulated crushed stone, installation of monoblock concrete gutters, all culminating in the installation of the playing surface and the artificial turf.
The moves were integrated into the modernization project planned for some time by Clubul Sportiv Dinamo.
This is what the landscape looked like when Gazeta visited in January 2025:

In the new Sports Complex, which will stretch, according to Mayor Rareș Hopincă, on 20 hectares, Dynamo players plan to lay the foundations of the most modern academy for children and juniors in the country. In this sense, the officials of the Sports Club proposed to exploit the spaces in the Sports Park to the maximum.
Danciulescu had announced at the end of 2024: “The “Velodrome” will be transformed into a high-performance synthetic field”
Ionel Dănciulescu, manager at CS Dinamo, offered hints as early as the fall of 2024 about the works to be carried out at the “Velodrom”:
“After the demolition of the stadium begins, the synthetic field, which is close to the central one, will be affected. And we found a very good solution. I talked with the president of CS Dinamo, Ionuț Popa, and the honorary president, Ionuț Lupescu, and we arrived at an excellent option: The velodrome, which is no longer used by anyone, will be transformed into a high-performance synthetic field.
Uncovering has already started, and we, from CS Dinamo, will move there. It's a bigger field, about 9,000 square meters, where we will set up a 100-meter field, and in the back we will create another field for the smaller groups of children. The infrastructure is very important – you can't have 3-4 teams training on a single field, it's too much”, explained Dănciulescu, on the GSP “2 la 1” podcast.
They wanted a stadium on the “Velodrome”
The “Dinamo Velodrome”, which has been in a severe state of disrepair in recent years, was coveted by many investors, being taken into account including as a potential space for the construction of the new stadium.
The idea fell in the meantime, the tenants of the houses located in the vicinity of the objective vocally expressing his displeasure when this hypothesis was circulated in the public space.
At the same time, in the summer of 2021, Ion Țiriac showed interest in building an ice rink on the site of the “velodrome”.
