US President Donald Trump will travel across the US every week from now on to campaign in support of the Republicans before the mid-term elections that will take place on November 3, the White House announced on Wednesday, according to the EFE and Agerpres agencies.

His first stop will be next week in Iowa, a symbolic state where the presidential primaries are launched every four years.

His speech in Iowa will focus on economic and energy issues, White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles told reporters.

Then, President Trump will make weekly trips around the country, and members of his administration will in turn increase their activity in the territory, Wiles added.

She had already announced in December that Trump intended to get actively involved in the election campaign for the midterm elections. The president also wants to organize a large Republican Convention before this election, along the lines of the one organized for the presidential nomination.

Republicans have a narrow majority in Congress

On November 3, Americans will vote to renew the entire House of Representatives and one-third of the Senate, as well as to elect 36 governors and local officials.

For Trump, this election is crucial in determining the course of the second half of his term, as the narrow majority that Republicans have in Congress is at stake.

During this time, the Democrats are intensifying their opposition to the Trump administration, which they accuse of lowering the standard of living, including due to the increase in the cost of housing and health care, a situation that also displeases sectors of the Republican president's electoral base, which reproaches him for devoting too much time to foreign policy issues and neglecting domestic ones in the first year of his mandate.
