Potatoes are a real weeknight dinner savior. It goes into purees, casseroles, sauce or as a simple side dish. But cooking it is a whole ordeal: a dirty stove, boiling water, waiting 20–30 minutes, and then getting burned while peeling the hot tubers.
In fact, everything is much simpler. Potatoes can be cooked in just 8 minutes in the microwave without steam or pans. It turns out soft inside, slightly crumbly, not overcooked, but completely ready for any dish.
How to do it:
- Wash the potatoes well.
- Cut into 3-4 cm pieces.
- Place in a deep microwave-safe bowl.
- Add 2-3 tablespoons of water.
- Cover with a lid or cling film with a small hole to allow steam to escape.
- Cook on high power for 8 minutes. If the pieces are large, add another 1-2 minutes.
- The finished potatoes will be easily pierced with a fork, but will not turn into porridge.
While the potatoes are cooking, prepare a quick sauce: mix 2 tablespoons of sour cream, 1 teaspoon of mustard, a pinch of garlic and herbs to taste. This sauce will perfectly highlight the taste of even the simplest potatoes and turn them into a complete dish.
This method saves time, water and effort. And the main thing is that you get the same result as after a long cooking, but without the hassle.
