Many flights were canceled

Flight cancellation in Finland due to frost is a rare situation – writes the STT agency. — If it was currently -40 degrees in Helsinki, the flights would take place because the sky has been cloudless and the air dry for several days due to the high pressure in the capital, said Jari Paajanen, head of the operational control department at Finnair.

The list of flights canceled on Saturday also includes flights to Rovaniemi. During the winter season Finnair operates several connections to Lapland every day. Only direct flights to Ivalo, the country's northernmost airport, are scheduled to operate on Saturday. There will also be two partial connections to Kittila, but passengers will only reach Oulu on the border with Lapland by plane, from where they will then be transported by bus to their destination.

Kittila has also been reported so far the lowest temperature in the history of measurements in the country was -51.5 degrees, it was in January 1999.
