At the beginning of the year, the Norwegian tax authorities started an experiment in taxing young workers. 100,000 were drawn from among taxpayers aged 20-35. people whose income tax will be reduced by 27.5 thousand crowns per year, i.e. nearly 10 thousand. zloty. The program is expected to last five years.

The aim of the project is to assess whether reducing the tax burden translates into greater professional activity of young adults. Among others, the following will be analyzed: number of hours worked, frequency of employment, stability of contracts and income level. Participants' results will be compared to a control group of similar age, education and income situation.

Participation in the experiment did not require submitting applications or meeting additional conditions. The Norwegian tax office – Skatteetaten – selected the participants by drawing lots.

According to the authorities' announcements, the data obtained will help answer the question whether the level of taxation is one of the key factors influencing the career decisions of young Norwegians.. The conclusions from the experiment are to be used when designing changes to the tax system and future labor market policy.
