The former American presidential adviser Steve Bannon wants a victory for the head of the French far-right Marine Le Pen in the upcoming presidential elections to “really kill the European Union” and not a victory for Jordan Bardella, whom he described as “a kid”, in a televised interview broadcast on Thursday, reports France Presse, taken over by Agerpres.
Bannon, an influential voice of the American radical right, hopes that Marine Le Pen will be authorized by the French judiciary to run for the fourth time in the presidential elections scheduled for 2027, in this interview conducted on January 6 in Tucson (USA) and which will be broadcast on Thursday evening during the program 'Complément d'enquęte' on the France 2 channel.
Having become ineligible through a conviction in the first instance, the leader of the French extreme right plays her possible candidacy during an appeal process that will start on January 13, regarding the legality or not of the financing of the parliamentary assistants of the National Front (the former name of her party, Rassemblement National) in the European Parliament.
Steve Bannon declared himself “100% in favor” of banning the judges who convicted Marine Le Pen in the first instance from traveling to the US.
“There are three things that will destroy the European Union. First, Brexit. Then, the election of Donald Trump and his populist national policies. Finally, the third element that will really kill the European Union will be the election of Marine Le Pen,” explained the former American presidential adviser.
“I call Bardella a kid. He's the featherweight. He's incapable of getting France out of the crisis; that's why I say he's a little boy,” Bannon said.
