The head of NATO was asked about the Greenland issue by CNN. Rutte assessed that there are appropriate agreements that can convince the US to cooperate on Greenland.

“Regarding Greenland specifically, I know there are intense discussions about deploying additional US troops there,” said Mark Rutte. He estimated that “the Danes would have no problem” with a greater presence of US troops on the island, as it would increase security in the Arctic.

He also added that the Alliance has a common position on security in the Arctic, and US involvement in this region is justified.
