Bozhidar Chorbadzhiyski (30 years old) returned to the Super League after a seven-year break, signing with Hermannstadt. The Bulgarian defender had played in Romania in 2019, at FCSBwhere he arrived on loan from CSKA Sofia, but his experience in the red-blue shirt was a short one, Gigi Becali not paying the transfer fee.
“I couldn't clearly impose myself in front of the FCSB bosses,” Chorbadzhiyski told the Bulgarian press at the time. After the friendly played by Hermannstadt against Kayserispor, which ended in a 0-0 draw, the defender spoke about the reasons that led him to return to Romania. A decisive role was played by Antoni Ivanov, whom Chorbadzhiyski considers “a younger brother”, basic midfielder in the team prepared by Dorinel Munteanu.
Chorbadzhiyski considers the return to the Super League a step forward in his career and is convinced that the experience gained post-FCSB will help him to establish himself this time in Romanian football.

“I feel tired, as is normal in the training camp, with hard training, but that's why we are here. It was a good friendly, from which we can take both positives and negatives. We try to understand the coach's ideas as best as possible and achieve our goals.
I feel very good here. One of the reasons why I came to Sibiu is that one of my best friends, Antoni Ivanov, is here. He is like my little brother. We grew up together at the same academy in Bulgaria and know each other very well. It helped me a lot to settle in, but my colleagues were also extraordinary, they received me very well”, said the nicknamed “Bozhi”, after the training match of the Sibiu team.

It was important for me to make the step from the Bulgarian championship and come to play in a higher championship, from my point of view. I wanted to take a step forward in my career.
The level of the championship is high, which I also remember from my time at FCSB. The conditions are very good and so are the expectations. The experience gained after FCSB helped me a lot, I have more maturity and I think I can play at a better level in Ligue 1 now.
