Louis Munteanu officially closed the CFR Cluj chapter and sent an emotional message to Transylvanians, shortly after being introduced by DC United. The Romanian striker signed a contract for three and a half years, valid until the 2028-2029 season, with an option to extend for another year.
The move was announced the same day the player left for his medical, with him set to join his new team as soon as he receives his P-1 visa and International Transfer Certificate (ITC).

A few hours after the formalization of the transfer, Louis Munteanu published on Instagram a parting message addressed to the club from Gruia, in which he spoke about the time spent in Cluj and the people who marked him.
Hello, dear CFR-ists!
I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for these almost two beautiful years spent together, years that have shaped me both professionally and personally. From the moment I signed, Cluj became HOME for me and this is due to the extraordinary people I met here. I am grateful to my colleagues, because without their support, work and trust I would not have been able to have such appreciated developments. Thanks also to the laundry ladies, storekeepers and everyone at the club who looked after me day in and day out, every gesture counted.Mister Petrescu, I will never forget our first conversation and how much you believed in me from the beginning. Solid record in Gruia
Louis Munteanu arrived at CFR Cluj in 2024, after the club from Gruia paid over 2 million euros to those from Fiorentina. In the Transylvanian shirt, the striker ticked off 63 matches, scored 28 goals and provided 9 decisive assists.
At the international level, Munteanu has 4 selections for the Romanian national team, for which he managed to score twice. In his career, the striker also played at Academia Hagi / Viitorul / Farul Constanța, Fiorentina and CFR Cluj.
