Member of the Lausanne Club, Benjamin Johnson was identified among the 40 victims of the tragedy of such proportions in Switzerland.
“A promising athlete and a sunny personality. I remember a young man who was always positive, smiling and respectful. He was the first to support his colleagues,” said Amir Orfia, president of SwissBoxing.
“According to the testimonies, he lost his life saving his girlfriend, thus allowing her to survive. This act of supreme altruism corresponds exactly to who he was: someone who always helped others,” added the president of the federation, explaining how the young athlete died in the fire.
“Our thoughts also go out to all the families affected by this national tragedy, as well as to all the victims. If other members of our community are identified among the affected people, we will be with them”, concluded Amir Orfia
