US President Donald Trump said on Saturday that he is frustrated with Russian President Vladimir Putin over the continuation of the war in Ukraine, Reuters and CNN report.
Trump was asked, during a press conference held at Mar-a-Lago on Saturday about the US military operation in Venezuela and the capture of autocratic President Nicolas Maduro, whether he had discussed the Venezuelan leader during his recent conversation with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.
“We never talked about Maduro,” Trump replied.
The US president then added that he is not “happy with Putin” at the moment because he is “killing too many people”.
Trump also claimed that progress was being made in peace negotiations in Ukraine, but without providing further details, and called the war “a bloodbath”.
Russia has remained a key ally of the Maduro regime in the face of Trump's campaign against the Venezuelan government.
On Saturday, Moscow condemned the “US act of armed aggression against Venezuela”, saying that “the pretexts used for such actions are baseless”.
