FC Voluntari announced through social media that they have loaned Cătălin Tolea, the player from Petrolul Ploiești, until the summer.
It is the first move of the winter mercato period for the formation aiming for promotion in the Superliga.

At the age of 22, Cătălin develops as a left defender/attacking midfielder/right wing and arrives at FC Voluntari from Petrolul Ploiești, after having accumulated important experience in the Romanian SuperLiga.

Cătălin Tolea was not a basic player in the formation from Ploiești. The 22-year-old player, brought up by the “yellow wolves”, was a reserve for the last 7 games in the Superliga and is not included in the plans of the “principal” Eugen Neagoe. The last match in which he got minutes was the game in the Romanian Cup, lost to the Universitatea Craiova, score 0-4. Then the footballer played 46 minutes.
Cătălin Tolea has 9 matches in all competitions this season and no defensive contributions. In the 9 games, he ticked only 455 minutes: he played the most in the match with Unirea Slobozia in September, score 0-1, when he played 71 minutes.
Tolea also performed at FC Pucioasa and CS Blejoi. It is quoted by specialized websites at 250,000 euros.
FC Voluntari is currently in 5th place in League 2, with 33 points accumulated in 17 stages. The objective of the formation in the second echelon is promotion to the Superliga. The first match of 2026 is against Steaua, at home. League 2 will return in February.
