Citing diplomatic sources in Brussels, Die Welt reports that as part of the “coalition of the willing”, “Europeans are ready to participate in monitoring a possible ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine.”

“Plans on what security guarantees for Ukraine could look like are already fully developed. They were prepared mainly by military experts of the armed forces of Great Britain and France in cooperation with Brussels,” the daily quotes one of the sources.

According to “Die Welt” reports: France and Great Britain are ready to send troops to Ukraine to enforce peace. The size of the contingent in the first six months is expected to reach 10,000-15,000. soldiers. Both countries would be ready to act even without a UN or EU mandate. An invitation from Ukraine would be enough for them.

As we read further in “Die Welt”, supervision of the ceasefire from the air and sea is to be provided from the territory of countries neighboring Ukraine. However, no specific countries were mentioned in this context. Türkiye also plays an important role in plans to monitor the ceasefire and could monitor the Black Sea region.

Die Welt also reports that EU countries are planning to adopt the 20th package of sanctions against Russia on the fourth anniversary of the Kremlin's full-scale aggression against Ukraine.

It is planned to include, among others: imposing travel restrictions and freezing assets for individuals and organizations, especially those responsible for deporting Ukrainian children.

In addition – according to information from the German daily – there will also be further sanctions on the Russian energy and banking sectors. Brussels is also considering introducing a ban on the import of Russian uranium, which would mean placing sanctions on the Russian state-owned company Rosatom.
